"We believe our students should enjoy the learning process and, with determination and perseverance, can excel in whatever they set out to do."

Welcome to Riverside Secondary School’s website; a window to our vibrant school life.

John F Kennedy once said, “Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future”. The educational landscape has been evolving both nationally and globally the past decade and more so in recent years. Critical, creative and collaborative skills, global-mindedness, cultural otherness, discernment are among some of the important competencies we need to develop in our young. We need to respond to the fast changing world so that we will continue to remain relevant. We understand the need to bring what we teach and how we teach into this new era.

At Riverside, we have always been passionate about seeking out opportunities for intellectual and personal growth of our students in and beyond the classroom. We have made great strides over the years with our robust academic programme and strong character development pursuits.  We believe in being the spark that lights the fire of an exciting pursuit of knowledge and growth.

Let me give you an example: Should you walk into the school today, a visual feast of Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso grace some of the doors and walls of the school. What started off as a simple project gradually expanded beyond the original scope, as students excited by the huge canvas, dabbled with paint and guided by their teachers, transformed other corners of the school in to a work of art.

That transformation is also taking place within the walls of the classroom. An online portal Knowledge Forum has made the learning of Science and Humanities much more exciting and our Virtual Reality room brings cells and organ systems alive for our Biology students. Our Applied Learning Programme: Global Citizenship through Critical Social Inquiry (GCE through CSI) and our Learning for Life Programme: Arts for Life provide opportunities for students to discover their strengths and interests, and to find greater relevance and motivation in their learning and help students acquire a broad and deep foundation for life and lifelong learning.

We believe our students should enjoy the learning process and with determination and perseverance, can excel in whatever they set out to do. We will continue working towards strengthening our approach to teaching and learning so that our pupils will develop the necessary skills and values to face the future with confidence. You can be assured of a quality education at Riverside!
