Educational cum Cultural trip to Melaka

The school has been organizing an educational cum cultural trip to Melaka, West Malaysia since 2008. The objectives of the programme are to:

  • Develop global awareness and cross-cultural skills and sensitivities as part of global citizenry education in our Applied Learning Programme (ALP);
  • Foster positive interpersonal skills, adaptability and social awareness among the students.

Participants had the opportunity to visit various historical sites like A’Famosa, Chetty Village and Peranakan Museum. In addition, they also had hands-on experience in garland making, tapioca planting and rubber tapping.  A highlight of the trip was a splendid hour-long Baba Nyonya Performance that relayed the rich Peranakan heritage and its matrimonial traditions.

Overall, the trip served to enhance our global citizenry education programme and be better aware of our region’s rich cultural heritage.
